The Art of Colleen Sobkovich

Biography

Colleen Sobkovich was born in 2001 and was raised in Aurora, Ontario. She graduated in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Waterloo. Starting at a young age Sobkovich was very creative and loved exploring nature. It was in 2017 that she started to develop a passion for painting landscapes and barns. Her love of nature and architecture inspires her to paint subjects that remind her of her home in Canada.

Many of her paintings help preserve the beauty of farms, houses, and landscapes that are slowly disappearing. Sobkovich enjoys painting in a therapeutic time-consuming way, in order to create highly detailed and focused pieces. She loves working collaboratively in commissioned work to deliver clients a painting that they most desire.

In Sobkovich’s first art show in 2019 at the McMichael Canadian art collection’s autumn art sale, she received a coveted spot in the top ten. She was also the youngest person ever selected for the show. By the age of 18, Sobkovich sold 25 works of art and continues to sell more nationally and internationally. She was awarded the Jocelyn Cowan Prize in Painting from the University of Waterloo in 2021. Colleen Sobkovich’s paintings are currently represented by Butter Gallery in Collingwood, Ontario and Koyman Galleries in Ottawa, Ontario.
